AUXILIARY DAY at Delta Hospital was well attended and a fun time for all!  Volunteers were treated to a great performance from the Delta Hospital Bell Choir under Jo Anne Tait's direction. Kudos to the Auxiliary-supported Music Therapy Program, Jo Anne and the wonderful Delta Hospital residents. (photos under NEWS)

                             DID YOU KNOW? .... - the Auxiliary has a group of volunteers that arrange and distribute fresh flowers throughout the Hospital early in the morning (between 8:00AM and 10:00AM) on Mondays and Thursdays?

about us...

In 1969, Lila Massey sent out invitations to all the women’s groups in Delta inviting them to attend a meeting at Evergreen Court at which time she highlighted the need for a hospital in Delta. An action plan was formed and put into motion! Just imagine how quickly things started to happen then!  Eight chapters were formed with names like Boutique Belles and Beavers. Their fund raising efforts ranged from country fairs to shoe shines and, like a good farming community, the seeds soon flourished.

• In January 1977, the Extended Care facility was opened.

• In 1980, the Acute Care section of our hospital opened.

• In 2006, Delta Hospital Auxiliary committed $1,000,000 to the building fund for the new ER and an additional $96,000 to add a 10 bed bay to the expanding emergency ward.

• In 2011, we committed another $700,000 to the installation of a digital mammography program at Delta Hospital.

• in 2012, we purchased a new building (3,000 sq. ft.) for the expansion of our Thrift Shop Unit.

We still remain active in specialized equipment acquisitions and specialized programs such as music therapy throughout the hospital. For the past 44 years, Delta Hospital Auxiliary Members have put hundreds of thousands of hours of effort into patient care and comfort and will continue to do so for many years to come.  We sincerely look forward to participating in future planned positive changes at Delta Hospital.

I am a Volunteer...better still, I am a Delta Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer! This means that I care, I really care about our hospital functioning as an efficient, clean, well-equipped facility dispensing excellent medical care along with a large dollop of kindness and sincere concern for the comfort and well-being of all its patients

To accomplish this, I give my time, my service and my energy in volunteer hours. I give the time I can give; I arrive when I manage to get control over all my aches and pains; I stay as long as my energy lasts or until my family and/or my “other life” calls for my presence elsewhere; I offer and share the expertise I have gathered along my path in life; I feel valued and respected for what I can give; I feel useful; I feel connected to my volunteer friends, to customers, to nurses and doctors and to patients who have become friends;
I am needed.
